UngiAarhus offers recreational activities for children and young people from 4th grade to 18 years of age

Indhold

Across Aarhus Municipality, there are leisure and youth clubs in all 47 school districts, several pedagogically supervised playgrounds, a citywide youth school, and various targeted initiatives.

Each youth club has an average of around 200 members, ranging from 4th grade to 18 years of age. The youth school offers activities to more than 5,000 young people every year.

UngiAarhus’ core mission is to create a fulfilling leisure time for and with children and young people. We place particular emphasis on how we can contribute to their development into active citizens. Therefore, a significant part of our work is shaped by involving children and young people in the design of specific activities. An experimental approach ensures that we meet their needs and desires.

We facilitate and provide the framework for young people to engage in meaningful communities, where they are met by committed adults, and where a sense of belonging with other children and young people is often built through shared activities. In the youth clubs, we offer a wide range of activities including cooking, outings, sports, and creative projects.

UngiAarhus works towards the following objectives

    • Ensuring that children and young people can be active co-creators of their leisure time and are given the courage and support to take charge of their own lives.
    • Promoting participation and inclusion in diverse and committed communities through recreational and youth education practices.
    • Helping children and young people develop local awareness and a global perspective.
    • Equipping young people for societal life, enriching their lives, and fostering their ability to actively participate in a democratic society.

UngiAarhus’ programs are aimed at all children and young people in Aarhus Municipality from 4th grade to 18 years of age. The target group also includes vulnerable and at-risk youth, such as those from disadvantaged neighborhoods or those experiencing social difficulties. It also includes children and young people with physical and mental disabilities.

Since 2018, UngiAarhus has actively participated in Erasmus+ and has carried out several youth exchanges and youth worker mobility projects. We are always looking for new partnerships, so don’t hesitate to contact us.
